Statement from SiFu Allan Lee: Truth in Teaching and Lineage
Many years ago, I made a solemn promise 諾言 to SiFu Yip Man and SiFu Duncan Leung that I would preserve the integrity of the art of Wing Chun by only teaching dedicated people with impeccable character and conduct. My SiFus believed Wing Chun to be the consummate art of fighting rooted in the customs and values of traditional Chinese culture and believed the art should only be passed down to those who embodied its moral principles. This is why I have always selected my students with great caution.
Everyone who comes to my school is told the same thing on the first day. They are asked to carefully consider if the decision to join my school is a correct one 正確抉擇, since only those who cherish the art and the opportunity to learn it will be put under consideration to become students. Those who come from other martial arts or Wing Chun schools are especially advised to stay with their current schools to avoid any misunderstanding. All prospective students are put under probation pending my personal evaluation and approval. In addition to demonstrating an earnest interest in learning, candidates must be diligent, hard-working, and loyal. Those who do not meet the above mentioned criteria or exhibit characteristics unworthy of the art are ask to leave permanently.
"The training at our school is exceptionally hard. It requires a lot from you; physically, mentally, and emotionally. I don't think anyone can imagine...so whatever you think, it's probably much more. This is part of the beauty of kung fu... " - Mike (Read More...)
"When I was first taught the basics, the things I learned had much more than what was on the surface. From the quintessential horse stance to the most basic applicable punch, there was a whole world of knowledge for each thing itself." - Angel (Read More...)
